.On Friday 20th January, we went to the Derek Fatchett Centre at the City of Leeds School to learn how to use the Robotics software "Lego Mindstorms." Here are some photographs of our day.

Lining up the robot exactly behind the black line is essential for the program to work!

We had to write different programs for the robobot using Lego Mindstorms software.
In this challenge, we had to park the robot (bus) in the parking bays without knocking the batteries (people) over. It took quite a few attempts to get this right!

For this challenge, we fitted a light sensor to the front of the robot. We had to write a program which would ensure that our robots didn't go over the black line. Very useful when working in a factory!
For our final challenge, we had to program our robot to negotiate a gas pipe. Whenever it detected a crack in the pipe (black line) it stopped and played a tune. We found out how useful robots can be at doing jobs which are dark, dirty and dangerous!
